In the midst of differences, pain, and fear, the pull for self-protection is strong. The pull to remain comfortable is enticing. Yet, nothing will change if those with the capacity to bring change use their power to simply remain comfortable.
The Need for More
Over 8 billion dollars is invested into diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives annually. Yet 75% of these programs do not yield the expected outcomes. And, among the 75% of programs that do not yield the expected outcomes, 40% actually lead to a further sense of isolation and exclusion!
Most diversity, equity, and inclusion programs focus only on surface-level changes. They do not delve to the depths of personality and the discomfort that comes naturally during times of change. And, changing how we accept and view ourselves and others is uncomfortable!
The ADW | Belonging Initiative model is based on psychology, research, and a deep understanding of the human experience. Through the ADW Profile and Situational Identity Model, we explore individual aspects of personality and how these might be expressed. Then, using the Foundational Tenets, we help people understand where their discomfort comes from, why it’s okay to feel uncomfortable, and how to manage this discomfort during times of change.
